Within the framework of the project, digital competencies are being introduced into the educational process in the direction of training “Materials Science” and “Composite Technologies”, which are considered relevant areas of engineering. At the moment, the composite market is showing rapid growth and is an integral part of “Industry 4.0”, which implies the introduction of digital technologies into the production process. This technological transformation requires information technology knowledge from engineers.

The competitions held in a virtual environment contributed to the development of digital literacy of youth, the formation of flexible skills of students. The use of the VR format of the competition provided:
1. Reduction of the area required for the placement of laboratory and training equipment through the use of computer simulation models;
2. Safe conditions for holding the event without using expensive equipment and chemicals harmful to health.
